It’s been almost ten years since Shadowrun Returns was released, but the trilogy has yet to make its way to consoles. With Paradox’s announcement of Shadowrun Trilogy: Console Edition this week, as well as plans to bring the titles to Xbox Game Pass, that’s about to change. Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall Director’s Cut and Shadowrun Hong Kong Extended Edition make up the Shadowrun Trilogy. The games are all turn-based tactical RPGs with strong cyberpunk overtones.
Microsoft has held the rights to the Shadowrun IP for video games for decades, but has never really taken advantage of it. Maybe it will finally change this generation, especially now that Xbox has so many great RPG studios under its wing. KitGuru says: Will you be playing Shadowrun on consoles in June? Would you like Microsoft to greenlight a new game in this franchise?
The Shadowrun Trilogy: Console Edition package is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on June 21, so there’s not long to wait. The Trilogy will also be available via Xbox Game Pass, although it’s unclear if the Trilogy will be available on both XGP for console and PC, or just console.
