MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday approved the vaccination certificates of 17,758 passengers for the purchase of passes for most local trains.
The BMC examined 18,324 people for their fully vaccinated Covid certificates. Today was the first day the BMC started checking citizens’ vaccination certificates or buying monthly passes for local trains. 17,758 passengers purchased their monthly passes for local train travel.
The BMC had set up 358 assistance services at 53 stations in Mumbai as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani inspected the process by visiting several train stations.
“In order to enable citizens to travel on local trains and obtain a monthly rail pass, an offline verification process for the final Covid-19 vaccination (completed 14 days after the second dose) began on Wednesday in 53 stations under BMC jurisdiction. and in a total of 109 stations in the Mumbai metropolitan area. They were operational in two consecutive sessions from 7 am to 3 pm, ”said a senior municipal official.
“This offline process of issuing monthly passes will continue every seven days of the week until further notice and therefore citizens do not need to rush to train stations,” said city commissioner Iqbal Chahal. .
In addition to the 53 stations in Mumbai, this offline checking feature will be available at 109 local stations throughout the Mumbai metropolitan area (MMR region), including neighboring cities.
