This year, an Xbox Game Pass family plan could see the light of day. Microsoft has been considering a family plan for Xbox Game Pass for some time, according to Windows Central. The option will likely be announced in the “near future” by the Redmond-based company. Microsoft also intends to integrate its family account system, which is currently used to manage Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions.
It’s also unclear if there will be separate family subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and the Ultimate version of Microsoft’s game subscription service. Microsoft offers Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass for $9.99 per month. These don’t have online multiplayer, but Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes Game Pass for console, PC, EA Play, and online multiplayer for $14.99.
The new family plan is supposed to provide Xbox Game Pass access for up to five players. It will ultimately be cheaper than paying for five separate accounts. But the exact price is not yet known. Microsoft should have ironed out the details of royalties and compensation with third-party publishers who license their content through Xbox Game Pass plans.
